People that say that they can't honestly live without internet. People that say they have no in real life friends simply because they can't be bothered making an effort and like their internet ones more. People that jeopardise their education, health, working, or social life in favour of going online. People that honestly do not leave the computer for hours upon hours on end. People that end up living at home with their parents forever, doomed for all eternity to be a lazy slob with no future.
..... What.
Since when is this suddenly acceptable and normal behaviour? Call me a nosey bitch for butting into what other people do with their lives, but this is something that needs to stop. People should be ashamed of themselves. People complain their internet addiction "can't be helped" or that "they have problems I can't go out into society b'aw", but that isn't any excuse what-so-ever to be lounging around, sleepless night after sleepless night, growing into more of a slug then a human being by the minute, and think this is "totally okay!". Stick your head out the window and take a breath of fresh air, but be careful, the sun may shock you after for seeing it for such a long time.
Consider this the true meaning of "get a life" and "I've lost faith in this generation."
I'm talking about serious cases where people need to get their shit together, you know? We're all a little bit attached to out computers, I suppose, but there's a line somewhere.
i'm pretty damn addicted to the internet, but i jump at the chance to go see my friends in real life.much more fun than going onto some random site to chat
I spend alot of time online but it's FAR from 24/7. I just can't imagine sitting inside my house all day on the internet...I don't want that existence!
I fully admit that I use the internet more than I should, but that is hardly something I'm proud of. Interestingly enough, I didn't really start using it "too much" until I went to college. I was online ALL THE TIME, not because I wanted to be but because I had to be. I did do a lot of book reading (thank goodness) and I did try to exercise as often as possible, but most of what I did - research, papers, etc. - had to be done on computer.
Now I use it for various things: writing, research (mostly for writing), job hunting, keeping in contact with friends who live far away, and sometimes surfing. It's a huge convenience in my life, but I am trying not to rely on it too much.
... there are people that are proud of this? Seriously? I could understand if they were, say, spending all that time hacking into the mafia's bank and giving the money to disabled orphans, but somehow I don't think that's what's going on...
